March 15, 1954 - December 26, 2021
WADDEN, Catherine Ruth It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of Catherine (Cathy) Ruth Wadden, 67, on Sunday, Dec. 26, 2021, at home after a long courageous battle with illness. Born March 15, 1954, Cathy worked with RBC Royal Bank for many years, where she eventually retired as manager of the Louisbourg branch. She was an avid volunteer in the community through various groups and committees. Shewas al ways bak ing and cook -ing up to her last day. If you knew Cathy, you knew her love lan guage was food. Her cinnamon rolls are famous after all. Cathy was a giving person and always put others before herself. Cathy was happiest with family. She loved and cherished Davey, her best friend and husband of 46 years. She lovingly devoted her life to her three girls, whom she was immensely proud of and counted the days for their next visit and daily phone calls. They live each day to be as kind and thoughtful as she was to each person, they cross paths with. However, nothing would light up her days like a Face Time or visit with her precious granddaughters. She lived for those moments and hugs from “Nanny’s girls.” Currently, we take comfort in knowing that she is no longer suffering. She had shown us undeniable strength over the past years, and we find peace in knowing she will now be comfortable. She is survived by her husband David, daughters Charlene (Nicholas Lahey), Heather (John Maxner) and Nicole. Sister Jean (Doug Dunbar) and brother John A. MacLean, both of Calgary. Mother-in-law Mabel Wadden. Grand daughters, Taylor, Rian, Elsie, Ivy, and fourlegged Nova, as well as many sisters/brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, and special friends. She is predeceased by her parents Neil and Elsie (Bagnell) MacLean, father-in-law Dave Wadden and brother Charles MacLean. The family would like to thank herwon der ful doc tors Dr. Kajetanowicz, Dr. Shimon and Dr. Curry as well as the Ambulatory Care staff of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their care and friendship to her over the past years. Cremation has taken place, www.sydneycremation.ca. A pri vate family service following COVID-19 protocols will take place next week with a celebration of life to follow at a later date. Memorials in Cathy’s name can be made to Make-AWish Foundation in honour of her granddaughter Taylor whom she shared a special bond or to a charity of your choice. “I carry your heart; I carry it in my heart” E.E.
